C16 Chapter sixteen

0This young man was none other than Ewart Sydney, whom Peter had met at Fierce Lions Military Academy.

"I didn't expect to see you here, Jeff."

Ewart Sydney entered the room. He instantly came up to Peter and talked to him respectfully in front of everyone's stunned stares.

"Fuck, isn't this Ewart Sydney, the young master of the Rare Pill Pavilion?"

"What is the name of this kid? He's so great that even the young master of the Rare Pill Pavilion treats him with respect!"

Many people who knew Ewart Sydney gasped when they saw this scene.

David Wells's previously terrible look had become much uglier as he stood opposite Peter.

"Are you the Rare Pill Pavilion's young master?"

Peter was stunned by Ewart Sydney. He hadn't anticipated this youngster having such a unique identity.

"That's correct. Roy Sydney, my father, is the owner of the Rare Pill Pavilion."

Ewart Sydney gave a warm smile. He turned around to face David Wells. "What's going on, Alchemist Wells? Why did you attack Jeff Parker?"

"This youngster doesn't even have a Pill Master Badge, yet he wants to be the Rare Pill Pavilion alchemist. This is completely absurd."

David Wells stated categorically, "I didn't have a choice. That's why I ordered for him to be attacked."

"Our Rare Pill Pavilion has never mentioned that one must have a Pill Master Badge to apply for the position, has it?"

The expression on Ewart Sydney's face deepened. "I am well aware of Jeff's accomplishments in the field of alchemy. It is a pleasure for our Rare Pill Pavilion to have him apply for the alchemist position. You do not need to be concerned about this. I'll inform my father.

He knew that Peter was a brilliant alchemist who wowed even Sandra King. He might even become Melville Seymour's final follower, an influential figure in the field of alchemy!

How could the Rare Pill Pavilion turn down such a brilliant alchemist?

"What exactly do you mean, Ewart Sydney?"

The expression on David Wells' face changed. "Your father has given me complete authority over the recruitment of alchemists as the chief alchemist of the Rare Pill Pavilion. I'm hoping you won't get in the way!"

With an angry expression on his face, Ewart Sydney looked at David Wells. "What if I have to hire Peter as a Rare Pill Pavilion alchemist?"

"As long as I'm at Rare Pill Pavilion for a day, I'm not going to let those who aren't talented enough taint the reputation of the Rare Pill Pavillon."

"Unless he can make a grade one pill in front of me to demonstrate his ability."

"If you persist on recruiting him into the Rare Pill Pavilion nonetheless, I'll leave!"

David Wells looked at Ewart Sydney without any hesitation, and his words even revealed a hint of threat.

"Are you threatening me, Alchemist Wells?"

Ewart Sydney's face became glum almost instantaneously.

"I'm not trying to scare you. Everything I've done has been for the Rare Pill Pavilion's benefit. I'd have the same attitude even if your father were here."

David Wells murmured, then glanced at Peter coldly. "Kid, show me your ability if you want to become an alchemist of the Rare Pill Pavilion."

"I suddenly don't want to apply for the alchemical position," Peter stated.

"Weren't you arrogant just now? Didn't you think you were very cool? Why did you make such a hasty retreat?"

David Wells couldn't help but scowl in disgust when he heard Peter's words.

The onlookers in the area likewise glanced at Peter in disgust.

"Just now, he had a cocky grin on his face."

"He promptly admitted defeat when he learned that David Wells wanted him to use his abilities."

"Did you hear me say I admit defeat?"

Because I like your job, I'm not applying to be an alchemist!"

"I'd want to challenge you in alchemy, David Wells." If you lose, please appoint me as the chief alchemist of the Rare Pill Pavilion!"

"What the f*ck! Does this guy want to compete in alchemy with Chief Wells?"

Everyone was in a daze as they stared at Peter.

"You, who don't even have a Pill Master Badge, dare to compete in alchemy with a tier two high-grade alchemist!"

"Isn't it possible for you to be a tad more insane?"

Not only were the folks in the immediate vicinity stunned, but even Ewart Sydney, who was standing next to Peter, was taken aback.

Even though he knew Peter was a brilliant alchemist and had also seen him make a grade one pill, the David Wells in front of him, on the other hand, was a Tier 2 high-grade alchemist.

Ewart Sydney did not care about David Wells. After all, David had always been arrogant because of his standing as a high-grade-two alchemist. His father was also sick of him. Ewart Sydney would naturally prefer that Peter defeat David Wells and become the chief alchemist of the Rare Pill Pavilion.

However, could Peter beat a high-grade-two alchemist?

"What exactly did you say? You want to compete in alchemy with me?"

Peter's statements astounded David Wells as well.

He gave Peter a comical look as if he'd just heard the greatest joke in the world.

He was a grade two alchemist with a price!

Except for a few well-known third-grade alchemists, there was probably no one in this Ghost Blood City who would dare to challenge him in alchemy.

"What kind of jerk was this? What right did he have to brag openly in his presence?"

"You did not misunderstand me. In alchemy, I'd like to compete with you."

Peter raised the corner of his mouth slightly. "What? You're a respectable tier two alchemist. Don't tell me you're afraid."

"What a farce."

"I'm not going to try to compete with you in alchemy!"

David Wells gazed at Peter. "Because you desire to compete, I'll grant your wish. If you lose, I want you to become my pill slave and be subject to my orders for the rest of your life!"

"Sure."

"Tell me, how are we going to compete?" Peter asked, a small smile on his face.

"You're a scumbag who doesn't even have a badge for pill refinement. It's not terrible to be able to improve a tier 1 strength pill. I also don't want to be a thorn in your side."

With a frigid smile, David Wells remarked, "Before everyone, we'll perfect a physical strength pill. 10 sets of Physical Strength Pills will be refined by each of us. The person with the highest success rate wins. What are your thoughts?"

"Please put together a pill furnace and 20 sets of ingredients for Physical Strength Pills, Senior Ewart Sydney. "

Peter was too lazy to engage in meaningless talk with David Wells. He said to Ewart Sydney, standing beside him with a smile.

With the system's 100 percent success rate, the chances of his failure to create the pill were nearly zero.

"Alright."

Ewart Sydney smiled and nodded. Then he swiftly arranged for a pill furnace and the ingredients for 20 physical strength pills to be delivered.

"You go first, David Wells."

As he stared at the pill furnace and the chemicals before him, Peter said to David Wells.

"As you wish!"
