Extra 19: Change the World (21)

0Kurama was silent for a few seconds before sighing, she was right after all. Kikyo was also a victim. She had not decided to return to the world of the living, but was brought back because of the greed of a power-hungry woman.      0

"Do you want to talk?" - Kikyo asked as she looked closely at the silver-haired man.

"Why so curious?" - Kurama asked with a frown - "You're acting very different from how your sister told me you were."

"Possibly, it's a side effect of having a part of my reincarnation's soul" - Kikyo answered honestly - "Maybe this is what made me capable of speaking more freely and having a better handle on my emotions, which were slowly being swallowed up by my holy power."

"I see" - muttered Kurama before shaking his head - "Ok, we can talk, though I also want to know a few things about you."

"Sounds fair" - nodded Kikyo calmly as she waited for the silver haired man to ask his first question.

"What was it that happened during your last moments?" - Kurama asked normally.

"Straight to the point, I see..." - Kikyo nodded as she tried to remember the past - "The truth is I'm not really sure, now that I have the time to calm down, I feel like it was all too strange..."

"What do you mean?" - Kurama asked with a frown.

"I don't quite remember what happened, although I have little recollections about how Inuyasha hurt me badly when he betrayed me to steal the pearl, and although I managed to stop him, I died within minutes" - Kikyo replied with a frown - "I don't really get it, I thought we understood each other back then, although none of that matters anymore."

Kurama raised an eyebrow because it was obvious that there was something more to the whole situation, though he decided to look into it another time.

"I think it's my turn, so I can get some answers" - Kikyo said as she looked at the silver haired man - "Who are you?"

"My name is Kurama Uzumaki, Jubi Kitsune" - Kurama answered honestly.

"No, I think I better rephrase the question because I see you don't want to give me the answer I'm looking for" - Kikyo said as she looked at her companion with her typical cold eyes - "What are you?"

Kurama raised an eyebrow because he didn't expect this question.

"Don't try to fool me, you are not a Yokai, I can feel it in your power, which despite being monstrous like that of a Yokai, is purer than many shrines I visited during my first life" - said Kikyo while frowning.

"I'm just a father who came to this world with his baby after suffering a small accident" - replied Kurama while looking at the sky - "As for what I am, you can call me many things, the physical form of a force of nature, a demon capable of destroying the world, a hero who once saved humanity, a god who only wishes he could be with his loved ones forever, honestly, I don't care what you call me or consider me, I'm just Kurama, Uzumaki Kurama..."

Kikyo was silent for a few seconds as she analyzed the confused words her companion had said - "I'm more confused than I was before I got my answer, in the end, what are you?"

"I already told you, I'm just Kurama, Uzumaki Kurama" - Kurama replied as he closed his eyes - "A concerned father, a suffering husband, an immortal who wishes he wasn't cursed"

Kikyo again remained silent as she decided not to ask more about the identity of this strange man, after all, his words were bringing her more doubts.

"I guess it's my turn..." - Kurama said as he looked at the priestess - "What will you do now that you are resurrected?"

"What will you make me do?" - Kikyo replied with a question - "After all, you're the one who's controlling my life, so I can't do anything without your permission."

Kurama smiled slightly when he heard this - "I haven't thought about what to do with you, though I have many ideas in mind."

"Do you plan to torture me, or perhaps subdue me, so you can hurt Inuyasha?" - Kikyo asked as she looked the silver-haired man straight in the eyes, after all, she had seen how furious this man was with his former love after he hurt his daughter.

"At first, those options went through my mind, but then I thought that would be low, even in my angry state" - Kurama replied while closing his eyes - "That's why I won't do it that way, I'd rather do it in a different method."

Kikyo raised an eyebrow because she didn't understand what he was trying to say. That was bothering her, because she was aware of her prodigious intelligence, which seemed to be ineffective against this strange man.

This strange feeling of confusion, was upsetting the priestess more and more, so putting aside her pride, she decided to ask directly - "What is it that you plan to do?"

"It's simple" - Kurama answered as he looked at the woman with a huge smile - "I plan to subdue you in the most basic method in the book."

Kikyo frowned as she understood what he was trying to say, but if he was serious, then this man was stupider than she thought, after all, she had no plans of entering into a relationship with any man after being betrayed by her first love and dying in the process, I mean, that kind of thing caused someone to distrust even their own shadow.

"You're going to waste your time," Kikyo said as she shook her head.

"We'll see, though for now I'm going to retire ,you can do whatever you want in this place, though I recommend you to stay away from the end of the barrier, unless you want to suffer heartbreaking pain" - replied Kurama as he disappeared from the place.

Kikyo raised an eyebrow until she went to the place she wasn't supposed to go near, only to let out a piercing scream. She quickly felt a deep pain, one that didn't come from her body, but directly from her soul.

"Ugh" - Kikyo began to gasp as she felt her entire body tearing up inside despite being nothing more than a clay doll with a mind of her own.

"I told you so" - Kurama said as he looked down at the priestess from a tree branch.

Kikyo looked up and saw how he was resting on the branch with a small smile.

"I'm sure you understand why I didn't warn you more about the barrier" - Kurama said as he gave her a small smile - "After all, you're a smart girl."

"Because you knew I wouldn't believe your words" - Kikyo replied neutrally. She wasn't upset because her actions were her own decision, although at the same time she could feel her hostility growing against this strange man who seemed to be reading her like an open book. She wasn't very happy with the idea of someone understanding her so well, something even Inuyasha hadn't managed to do despite their past relationship.

"Exactly" - Kurama smiled as he appeared in front of the priestess - "Anyway, now I'll be going, I recommend you to rest and adjust your body, because maybe in a little while the two of us will go on a little trip."

Kikyo was silent for a few seconds before walking to the center of the barrier and closing her eyes.

Kurama just smiled before quietly retreating.

"Yura-san!" - Kagome exclaimed as she waited at the entrance to the village.

"I'm already here, we can leave whenever you want" - Yura said as she shook her head.

"Ok, let's go" - smiled Kagome as the two women walked towards the road that led to the next village, not noticing how someone was following them from a safe distance.

"What am I doing?" - Inuyasha muttered as he frowned seeing how unconsciously he was following, as if his body was moving on its own.

Yura looked in that direction, though she frowned when she didn't see anyone following them.

"Is something wrong, Yura-san?" - Kagome asked as she noticed how the Yokai woman was looking towards the forest.

"No, it's nothing" - Yura muttered as she looked back at her companion, the same girl her master had asked her to look after for a few months - "So, what are we going to do?"

"First, we'll try to find some shards of the pearl, so we can see if I can return to my home" - answered Kagome with a worried expression because she didn't know if she would be able to return to the future with just one shard.

"Relax, I'm sure Kurama-sama will help you get back one way or another" - Yura replied with a small smile - "Besides, you never know when he might be watching over you from the shadows."

Kagome blushed because it sounded like Kurama was watching over her like a knight, though she quickly shook her head - "Anyway, we'd better get going, we still have many places to visit."

"I recommend that we check the surroundings first in search of the shards, and if we manage to find some, we go back and see if you can return home, so at least you can get better supplies for our little adventure" - Yura said calmly.
