Extra 18: It's time to d-d-d-d-duel (End)

0"I activate [Polymerization] to summon from my Extra Deck my [Chimeratech Overdragon]!" - Zane exclaimed as all of his monsters were swallowed by a dimensional rift, which ejected a towering 5-headed mechanical dragon.     1

"I place a card face down and end my turn" - Zane muttered as he frowned.

[Zane, cards in hand: 0]

"It's my turn" - said Kurama as he drew a card - "Ok, time to end this. I place a card face down and move to battle phase - [Kaguya], attack his [Cyber Dragon]!"

"Not so fast, I activate the quick magic card [Remove Limiter]!" - Zane exclaimed seriously.

"I knew you would play something like that, that's why I put this card face down" - Kurama replied as his smile grew slightly.

Zane felt a cold sweat running down his back because it was as if Kurama could see the future and predict his every move.

"I activate the quick play card, [Duel in Sangaku no Hakaba]!" - Kurama exclaimed as he narrowed his eyes.

* * *

[Duel in Sangaku no Hakaba (Quick Play Magic)].

You can only activate this card during the battle phase when your opponent activates an attack modification card, and you possess at least one [Ninja Kami] monster. Activate from your deck a field card [Sangaku no Hakaba] and after this effect resolves, the two fighting monsters reduce their attack to 0. Your opponent cannot respond to the activation of this card.

"Thanks to its effect, I can activate a [Sangaku no Hakaba] from my deck and after that, reduce the attack of our two monsters to 0" - Kurama answered seriously.

"!" - Zane's eyes widened when he heard this because his opponent again had been one step ahead of him.

Without Kurama saying anything, the field began to change, showing a huge forest with hundreds of huge bones sticking out from between the trees. It was an impressive scene, but frightening because the spectators could sense that the owners of those bones were not simple.

[Sangaku no Hakaba (Cemetery Mountain)] [Field Magic Card].

All Monsters in the field lose half of their attack points, except [Ninja Kami] or [Ninja Akatsuki] monsters. All monsters with 0 attack points of the user can neither be destroyed in battle nor take battle damage, this effect can only be activated once per monster during the turn. Monsters destroyed by battle, are banished instead, this field card cannot be replaced, and when destroyed, the user takes damage equal to half of his life points.

"It's time to continue the battle phase! [Kaguya], attack his [Cyber Dragon], [Bone Ash]!" - Kurama exclaimed fiercely.

Zane was silent as he watched as his 5-headed dragon was releasing a powerful electric breath while Kaguya was pulling strange bones out of her back as she closed in against her dragon.

The goddess quickly reached where her opponent and with a single touch she completely disintegrated while she continued on as if nothing, all thanks to the field card [Sangaku no Hakaba].

"I've learned a few things during this duel, the first thing, being what my opponents feel during our duels" - said Zane while closing his eyes - "Please continue, Kurama-san."

"Ok" - nodded Kurama as he ordered his boss monster to end the duel.

Zane received the attack with a smile because now he knew a little more about Kurama's deck, which wasn't as invincible as he thought. He now needed to analyze it a bit more, and he could create a better strategy to be able to end Kurama's undefeated reign, although what he didn't know, was that Kurama had a huge variety of magic cards and traps in the form of [Jutsus] that could cause problems to his opponents, among other cards that he hadn't shown, in fact, he had only shown a few cards from his deck, being the vast majority of his monsters.

"Zane!" - Syrus exclaimed as he watched his brother's defeat at the hands of his teacher.

[Zane: LP 4000 → 0] [Kurama's victory]

"Thank you very much, Kurama-san" - said Zane as he turned around and left silently.

Kurama nodded with a smile before walking to his exit.

"How are you feeling, Zane?" - Atticus asked as he looked at his friend.

"Honestly, a little weird" - Zane replied as he gave his friend a neutral look - "It's annoying to lose, though I don't feel angry in the least, I guess it's because I knew the huge difference between our abilities"

"Just that?" - Atticus asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"No, the truth is that there is one thing that does bother me, and that is that he seemed to have a strategy for everything I threw at him" - Zane replied as he frowned - "I felt helpless when I was left with no cards in my hand and with only a quick play magic that he easily neutralized with his magic."

"I understand how you feel" - mused Atticus as he frowned - "Though it's possible that it's not that he was prepared directly for that play, but for anything you could throw at him because we don't know the ability of his [Elemental Ninja Sasuke] or the face down card he had with his [Jubi Awakening]"

"You have a point" - Zane nodded as he frowned remembering those unknown cards - "I guess I'll need more training, or more experience to match up against stronger opponents."

"Well, being the strongest person in the academy, it's obvious that you won't have much experience with slightly annoying opponents" - Atticus replied as he shrugged - "And it's not like I can help you, after all, we've fought so many times that we already know our strategies up and down."

Zane gave her a look before nodding and continuing on his way.

"Where are you going?" - Atticus asked as he chased after his friend.

"To prepare the last thing I need to get ready, so I can leave" - Zane replied, though he stopped his steps when he heard someone call out to him - "Who are you?"

"I am someone who is not important" - answered a tall, well-trained man who was wearing sunglasses - "I can't say the same for the person I serve, though"

"And who do you serve, if I may ask?" - Atticus asked as he raised an eyebrow because if he was honest, this man was too strange, more so with those sunglasses, I mean, who in their right mind wears sunglasses in a dark hallway?

"Oh, it's a name you guys will recognize right away" - replied the man in a suit as he handed Zane a card.

The blue-haired young man took it as he raised an eyebrow, only to be surprised to see the name - "You work for Seto Kaiba?"

"Yes, and he wants you to work for him as part of his new future talent project" - the man in the suit replied.

Zane was silent before nodding, after all, working for Seto Kaiba would bring him a huge amount of future opportunities, not to mention that he could learn a few things from one of the most powerful duelists in the world.

"Perfect, please follow me" - said the man in a suit with a small smile - "You can come along if you wish."

"Oh, I'll take you up on that offer" - nodded Atticus as he texted his sister to tell her where he would be.

1 month had passed since the duel between Kurama and Zane, time in which the world had clamored for the trail of the [Eternal Duelist]. Many wondered where the white-haired man was, and to the annoyance of the reporters, the few people who knew, didn't want to talk about it.

"Seriously, you guys shouldn't have followed me" - said Kurama while looking at Midori and Alexis, who despite his attempts to make them leave, they seemed to be determined to follow him to the end of the world.

"I'm a simple woman, I like someone, and I follow him" - Midori replied as she folded her arms - "Besides, I always wanted to be an adventurer."

Kurama let out a sigh at this stalker, then looked at Alexis - "And what excuse does a lady like you have, Alexis?"

"I'll be honest, I like you, and just like Midori, I don't plan on backing down, I'm not like that, not to mention that I always wanted to know more about the mystical side of the Duel Monsters" - Alexis answered honestly.

Kurama let out a second sigh before deciding he'd better not say anything else - "As you wish, just be careful."

"Aren't you going to protect us if something goes wrong?" - Midori asked with a small smile - "After all, we are weak girls ~"

Kurama pinched the bridge of his nose before sighing for the third time, he was currently standing in the ruins of what appeared to be an ancient temple, one that was filled with walls that told of an unknown land, and from what Kurama could read, this place was related to the [Elemental Nations].
