Extra 18: It's time to d-d-d-d-duel (5)

1Jaden and Syrus went to their room to meet their new roommate.      2

Kurama went back to his room, which wasn't that bad, in fact, it was well furnished and without holes where rats or cockroaches could get in.

"Seriously, Kaiba needs to start growing up a little" - Kurama said as he shook his head until he heard someone knocking on the door. He quickly walked to the entrance and opened it, revealing a beautiful black-haired woman.

"May I come in?" - Midori asked with a small smile.

"Sure" - Kurama replied as he shrugged - "Although it's a surprise to see you in my room, more so when we saw each other until recently."

"I know, though there's something I want to ask you" - said Midori seriously.

"Shoot" - said Kurama as he shook his head and indicated her to sit wherever she wanted.

Midori quickly took a chair and sat down, only to notice how the white haired young man seemed to be preparing his dinner - "Didn't you eat downstairs?"

"No, I had to make a few modifications to the educational material for the first class tomorrow, so I couldn't make it to the welcome dinner" - Kurama replied calmly as he walked over to a nearby desk and grabbed some documents - "I'm still reviewing the material, though I can tell now that it's on track."

"It's impressive that you are so serious about your work" - said Midori with a small smile.

"Did you expect me just because I'm young to be irresponsible?" - Kurama asked disdainfully as he gave his colleague a neutral look.

"Oh, sorry, I wasn't trying to say that" - replied Midori with slight embarrassment - "Anyway, I had stopped by to ask you about your morning shift."

"I only have classes during the first hour together with Professor Banner" - replied Kurama while raising an eyebrow - "If I remember correctly, tomorrow you have the second one together with Miss Fonda"

"Ahem! Yes, I have to work together with Professor Fontaine" - replied Midori while nodding - "Although it may not seem like it, I also studied medicine like her"

"I see" - Kurama nodded as he gave her a glance before concentrating on the educational material he was reviewing - "I'm sorry if I don't sound so attentive to your words, it's just that Crowler handed me my work guideline late, so I'm against the clock."

Midori frowned, though she didn't say anything about it because it was obvious she understood what the makeup-wearing professor was trying to do - "I guess I came at a bad time."

"Oh, in the least, it's always nice to have the company of a lady, let alone one as beautiful as you" - Kurama answered honestly, not noticing how Midori blushed slightly because it was one of the few times she received honest praise because most of the time it was lustful looks or perverted comments.

"Ahem! Thanks for the compliment" - Midori said as she calmed down.

"It wasn't a compliment, it was just an honest comment" - replied Kurama calmly before shaking his head and grabbing some glasses. Since he had arrived in this dimension, and with the almost complete disappearance of his abilities, he had started to suffer some symptoms from the overuse of these, such as vision problems from having used his Dojutsu so many times.

"Do you wear glasses?" - Midori asked with surprise.

"Only when my eyesight gets tired" - answered Kurama honestly - "I usually have good eyesight, although there are times when I feel that everything becomes blurry, it's a problem that has haunted me for years..."

"Oh, I see" - nodded Midori with curiosity about her new colleague.

"Anyway, what did you come to talk to me about?" - Kurama asked as he put down his papers on the desk and focused his attention on his beautiful companion.

"Right, I had come to invite you for a little walk with me around the campus, so you could get to know it better" - replied Midori as she remembered the real purpose of her visit.

"Just the two of us?" - Kurama asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Ha! You wish" - replied Midori with disdain - "No, it's a class activity that I was assigned, and since you're new, I decided to come and ask if you wanted to come with us"

Kurama was silent for a few seconds before nodding - "Sure, I have no problem with accompanying you."

"Perfect, we'll do it after the second class" - Midori replied as she stood up and left the room.

Kurama shook his head before picking up the papers he had left on the desk again, only to frown as he felt everything around him start to distort - ". . ."

"Tomorrow is the first day of school" - said a pretty girl with dark brown hair - "What do you think about our new teacher being almost our same age, Alexis?"

"Honestly, I would have preferred him to be a student" - replied a beautiful girl with dark blonde hair, and a body a model would kill to have, which she was showing off in all its splendor because she was currently taking a long bath in the hot springs of the girls' dormitory together with her friends.

"Hmm, a student-teacher relationship doesn't sound so bad ~" - said a pretty girl with light black hair. She, like her dark brown-haired friend, had well-proportioned bodies for their age, it was because of this that they were considered the prettiest girls in [Blue Obelisk], although despite this, they were still behind their best friend.

"Please, you change your romantic interest every week, Mindy" - Alexis said as she looked at her friend - "If I remember correctly, this week it was Chazz."

"I do that because I can't seem to find the perfect guy" - Mindy replied with a frown - "Every time I try something more intimate, they think I'm inviting them to my room, seriously, there are no good guys..."

Alexis was silent before frowning.

"As for Chazz, let's just say something I heard killed all the love I could have felt for him" - Mindy replied with a frown.

"Is that why you're going for our new teacher now?" - Jasmine, the reddish brown haired girl asked - "I don't think you're having much luck, I heard that Kurama Uzumaki is extremely popular, much more after trashing Aster Phoenix."

"What Jasmine says is true, Kurama-san is quite popular among girls, more so among both of you" - Alexis answered calmly.

"Among us?" - Mindy repeated with disdain, an attitude that Jasmine was also showing.

"Am I wrong?" - Alexis asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"Do you want me to remind you who it was that told us about Kurama-sama with such encouragement?" - Mindy asked as she snorted in disdain.

"Who was the person who yelled at her older brother to get her the autographed poster she still keeps in her room?" - Jasmine asked as she watched her friend's face begin to look like an apple.

"T-That was because I was still so young!" - exclaimed Alexis with a red face - "And I keep that poster because it's one of the few memories I have of my missing brother!"

"Sure, sure" - replied the two girls as they gave their friend a blank look. They would normally let anything to do with Alexis' older brother slide because they didn't want to make her sad, though there were times like this, where their blonde friend used her brother as a defense where they would just give her blank stares full of disdain for how low she was stooping to hide the truth.

"Just admit that you like him" - Mindy said with disdain - "We all do, he's handsome, strong, and with a huge future ahead of him, to the point that they even call him Yugi's successor for all the times they've seen them together, even Kaiba-san thinks so too, he said so in an interview"

"Many people say that the [Eternal Duelist] will be the new [King of Games]!" - Jasmine said excitedly.

Alexis let out a sigh of relief when she saw that her friends had changed the subject without the need for her to intervene, though she had to admit that she was excited about the idea of learning from such a skilled duelist as Kurama, though at the same time she wasn't too happy with the idea that the future of duel monster would be one where duelists would need hundreds of minutes to make a move.

"Maybe I should ask him what he thinks about it?" - Alexis muttered as she shook her head before sinking her head into the warm hot springs.

Mindy and Jasmine looked at each other before shrugging, though inwardly they were wondering if they could get Kurama's autograph after their class was over, though they weren't the only ones with this idea.

"Maybe I should do a mock duel with my deck, so I can explain better the situation..." - Kurama muttered as he tilted his head to one side, though his expression changed when he heard his cell phone ring - "I wonder who it is..."

Kurama quickly answered, only to be surprised to hear a familiar voice.

"Kurama, my boy, it's good that you answered so quickly" - said a jovial male voice.

"Pegasus, I didn't expect to hear about you so soon" - Kurama replied while raising an eyebrow.
