She Belongs To The Devil

Packing for the Travel

Packing for the Travel

2After departing with both Theodore and Joyce, Damien went back to Kenneth's room to get all the things that he had initially come to get.

When he reached there, he found Ariel already waiting for him in the room.

"So, are you going along with my dad?" she asked as soon as she saw Damien in the room.

Damien shook his head and answered, "No. He said that I should continue my journey as I had originally planned. Just Kenneth and me."

Ariel didn't understand why her father suddenly said that when he was so eager to help Kenneth just moments ago.

"Why? Is there any problem?" She furrowed her brows and asked, "Does he have some important matters that he needs to attend to?"

"No, I felt as though it had something to do with the vision that he had," Damien replied.

Ariel widened her eyes a little. She looked a little concerned and asked, "What vision?"

Damien took a deep breath and his eyes happened to land on a smaller luggage that was on the bed. It seemed like Ariel had already chosen a few pairs of clothes for Kenneth. And there was even a heavy-looking pouch on top of those clothes.

Damien looked back at Ariel with appreciative eyes and answered, "He didn't tell us what he saw. He simply bailed without giving us any explanation."

"Hmm…" Ariel nervously scratched her nape and darted her eyes around as though she had entered a deep thought.

Damien quickly ran towards the drawer where Kenneth had kept the stash of blood. He took out a couple of vials from the wooden box and then said as he sprinted back towards the bed, "Don't worry about it. I am sure that it wasn't something bad. If it was then he would have surely warned me."

"That's also true." Ariel finally took a deep breath and pointed at the suitcase. "I took the liberty to ask Kenneth's maid to pack the necessary things for two days' travel. And I thought you two might need some money, so…"

"I really appreciate it, Ary," Damien said with a wide smile on his face.

He then carefully rolled the vials in a towel and tucked that in the same suitcase.

When he was done with that, Ariel looked at him and asked, "Why don't you pack your belongings as well? I know you can always teleport here and get changed. But what if the circumstances don't allow you to do so? Better be prepared for anything."

Damien gave a silly smile and said after snapping his fingers, "That's an excellent idea."

He instantly disappeared from the room to go to his own room. And he reappeared within a few minutes while carrying some clothes in his hand. He dropped them all on the empty side of the suitcase and then locked it.

"Well," Damien grabbed the suitcase and said while looking at Ariel, "I better get going then."

Ariel clasped her hands together and took a step closer to Damien. "So, I guess I will be seeing you in a few days?"

Damien gave a nod and replied, "Yeah. We will probably reach that village tomorrow morning. And let's see how long it will take for us to actually find that lady. Our return will probably be affected by whether that lady actually turns out to be Kenneth's birth mother or not."

Ariel took a deep breath and nodded. She looked down at her hands and mumbled, "I just hope that Kenneth won't get hurt again. I have already shattered his heart into pieces. Hopefully, no one else will do the same."

Damien suddenly leaned down and planted a soft kiss on Ariel's head. And he said in a consoling voice, "Don't worry. I will be there for him regardless of how the search for his birth mother goes."

Ariel gave a melancholic smile to Damien and gave a quick hug. She then patted his shoulder and said, "I will wait for both of you to return. See you soon."

"See you," Damien gave a loving smile and in the next few seconds, he disappeared from there.

When he teleported back inside the carriage, he found Kenneth restlessly tapping his foot and nervously pinching his palm.

The moment he saw Damien, he instantly asked in an aggressive whisper, "What the hell took you so long, Damien? I was so worried that you bailed on me. And I was trying to think of an excuse that I should tell the coachman if he stopped the carriage and saw me alone."

Damien pushed the suitcase under his seat and then looked at Kenneth to apologize to him. "I am really sorry. I got caught up in a few things, so it took me some time."

"What things?" Kenneth folded his arms and slightly narrowed his eyes at Damien.

Damien nervously laughed and briefed everything while looking out of the window, "Umm… Joy and Ary were worried about us, and I had to update them about our plan. Then the Prince Consort wanted to help us out, but I think he saw some vision and wanted us to go alone. So, here I am."

"Ah! Yeah, we forgot to inform them." Kenneth took a sigh of relief and then asked Damien, "So, you brought all the things that I asked for?"

"Yes, do you want to change your clothes now?" Damien turned to look at Kenneth and asked.

Kenneth hummed for a while and replied, "I think I will change when we stop to rest. I don't want to strip in front of you. I am not as shameless as you."

Damien rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Hey, I never stripped in front of you."

"Don't lie. You always used to walk around half-naked back in my castle." Kenneth slightly lifted the corner of his upper lip and looked away.

"Okay, do whatever you want." Damien yawned and sat down comfortably. He then closed his eyes and asked, "Wake me up when we stop to take a break. I will take a nap for a while."

"Sure, go ahead." Kenneth gave a nod and then mumbled to himself, "I will try to stay wide awake. I've had enough nightmares for today."
