She Belongs To The Devil

Successful Manipulation

0Michael didn't want Irene to be dispirited. He had to make her do his bidding somehow. So he instantly tried to encourage her, "I bet Theodore wouldn't mind a visit from you. Although I can't say the same things about myself."     2

Michael then sneakily tried to suggest that Irene should give a visit to their niece, "And I think Ariel would also be happy to meet her Aunty."

Irene gave a mirthless smile to Michael. Regret was hovering on her serene face. "I don't think we have the right to disturb Theodore and his family's peace after we abandoned him like that. We should have at least visited him once and comforted him after he was heartlessly thrown out of Heaven by our father."

She heaved a deep sigh and said in a sad whisper, "But we were too scared to do that. And now… it's too late to mend the broken ties."

"Irene," Michael gazed at his sister and tried to convince her otherwise, "It's never too late to mend the broken ties. We are all family, after all. And if you find it difficult to go and see our brother, you can always go and try to meet Ariel first. And who knows, if Ariel tells Theodore how kind you have been to her, he might forgive you. And it might open the path for all of us to reach out to Theodore."

Irene looked convinced when Michael put it that way. But she didn't agree to meet Theodore or Ariel right away. She was afraid that Theodore would scold her and shut her out.

Nathaniel, who had been quiet all the while, added fuel to the spark that he saw in Irene's eyes. "Yes. If anyone could approach him first, that would be you, Irene."

He put up a sad face and then added, "I would have tried to meet Theodore and ask for his forgiveness. But, you know, given our history, it won't be that easy for me… or for Michael."

"You two now want his forgiveness?" Irene found it a little bit hard to believe.

It was hard to believe especially because it came from the mouth of Nathaniel, who always looked for a chance to fight with anyone and everyone.

Michael gave a glare to Nathaniel for speaking where he didn't need to and making Irene doubt their words when she already looked convinced earlier.

He stepped forward and spoke on both his and Nathaniel's behalf, "We cannot drag our feud till the end of time now, can we? Also, I really want to meet our niece. She needs to know that she has a whole family up here in the Heaven realm."

Irene took a deep breath in hesitation. She wanted to meet Ariel now that Michael was talking about her. But she was not confident about meeting her niece out of the blue and then introducing herself as Aunty Irene.

"What right do I have?" she thought again.

And she asked Michael, "Why don't you take the initiative instead? You can be the first one to meet our niece. And then you can introduce us to her. And maybe, we can go and meet our brother together with Ariel."

Michael pursed his lips and looked down at the realistic sand that he was standing on. And he spoke in a sad yet persuasive tone, "Don't get me wrong, Irene. I would love to meet Ariel. After all, she is the only niece we have in our family. But… I don't know how she will react to me. I don't know what Theodore has said to her about me."

"What do you mean what he has said to her?"

"You know that I don't have a good history with Lucifer. And Theodore has always been closer to Lucifer than to me. And I heard that Theodore also made amends with Azriel. Azriel and I also don't see eye to eye."

Michael sighed before continuing to manipulate Irene and making her fall right into his trap. "I also heard from someone that Ariel can control not one but two elements. And if Theodore has been villainizing me in Ariel's eyes then I can't help but think that Ariel will attack me as soon as she hears my name."

"What?" Irene scoffed in disbelief. "Why would Theodore villainize you? Okay, let's say he did, but why will Ariel attack you? It's not like you have done something bad to her. Whatever happened between you and Lucifer and Azriel happened a long time ago. It has nothing to do with Ariel, and neither with Theodore."

"Yes, why are you so afraid of a tiny baby, brother?" Nathaniel couldn't help but mock Michael.

Michael gave a piercing glare to Nathaniel for trying to ruin all his talks. And he tried to justify what he was saying, "Irene, I don't think you've heard this, but Theodore somehow assumed on his own that I would be coming for his daughter to get rid of her."

"Wh-Why would he think that?" Irene asked in utter confusion.

Michael shrugged as if it wasn't the truth and said, "I heard that Theodore has become paranoid ever since he discovered his daughter's abilities. So… I cannot make the first move to meet Ariel, no matter how much I am dying to meet her and introduce myself to her."

"That is why I am asking you for your help." Michael gave a sad smile and said, "All I want is to meet Ariel at least once. I want to make her see that I am not as bad as her father or other uncles are making me be."

Irene was now in a pinch. She couldn't quite deny Michael when he earnestly expressed his desire to meet Ariel.

She took a deep breath in and nodded. "Alright. I will go to Wyverndale and see if I can bring myself to meet our niece. I don't think I will be able to do that if our brother is around though."

Nathaniel happily chimed in again, "Good news to you, sister. Ariel is currently on a tour along with a few friends of hers. So, you might catch her alone if you try."

"Oh!" Irene nodded her head and was already thinking of things to say to Ariel after meeting her.

While she was lost in her thoughts, Michael and Nathaniel looked at each other and exchanged a victorious smile.
