She Belongs To The Devil

Grace

Grace

1The next day, Kenneth was still sleeping when he heard a light knock on the door to his room.
1

He half opened his eyes and asked with a frown on his forehead, "Who's it?"

However, all he got for the answer was a few more light knocks.

"Zach, is that you?" Kenneth asked from the bed because he was in no mood to get up that early.

Again, there was no answer.

And Kenneth assumed that it was Damien who had come to disturb him early in the morning.

He grumpily got out of his bed and stomped towards the door. "Damien, if it's you, I swear you are getting a kick from me. It's too early, you kn–" He opened the door to see a beautiful young lady who had a wide smile on her face.

Kenneth also smiled and went for a hug. "Grace! I'm sorry, I thought it was someone else."

Grace pulled away from the hug and folded her arms. And she asked her cousin, "Don't you think you need to be sorry for something else? Don't you need to inform me about your arrival? Do I have to find it out by listening to the town gossip?"

Kenneth gave a guilty smile and apologized, "I had a really tight schedule yesterday. I was thinking of sending you an invitation, but you saved me from the trouble."

"Uh-huh… So, I am nothing but trouble to you?" Grace narrowed her eyes at Kenneth.

Kenneth scoffed and said, "Come on! You know I didn't mean that." He then pushed the door wide open and invited his cousin in, "Come in."

Grace followed Kenneth inside and looked around the room. "Why are you staying here though? Aren't you feeling cramped here? This room looks so small."

"I don't stay here for the whole day, I just come here to sleep. So it's enough." Kenneth's eyes fell on the box that was on the table by the bedside. And he went to grab it while saying, "All my guests are staying here, so I am also staying here. It's easier this way."

Grace peeked out of the open door and asked, "Aren't your guests awake yet?"

Kenneth stood in front of her and mocked her, "Not everyone is a midnight person like you. It's not even 6 o'clock yet!"

Grace pouted a little and glared at Kenneth. "Should I go back and come back at midday then?"

"Sure," Kenneth gave a teasing smile and handed over the box that he was holding. "Take this before you go."

Grace happily snatched the box from Kenneth. "Is this a gift for me?"

Kenneth didn't say anything, rather, he went and sat down on the bed.

Grace excitedly opened the box, only to be disappointed by what was inside. She looked back at Kenneth and asked in a disappointed tone, "A dagger? Really? I don't even know how to use one!"

Kenneth cleared his throat and shrugged. "You can always learn how to use it. You need to have some defensive skills, don't you think?"

"Tch!" Grace sneered. And then she guessed, "You bought this for yourself, didn't you? You forgot to bring souvenirs for me, so you gave this to me."

Kenneth sighed and held out his hand. "If you don't want it then give it back to me. I will happily use it myself."

However, Grace hugged that box and denied it. "You already gave this to me. This is mine now."

Suddenly, they both felt someone's presence near them. They both turned their heads towards the door simultaneously and saw a half-asleep boy standing at the door and staring at them like a half-dead person.

Grace even felt a chill shiver down her spine.

"Zach? A-Are you alright?" Kenneth got up from the bed and asked while walking towards the door.

Zach kept on standing there and giving a death glare at Grace.

Kenneth stood in front of Zach and waved his hand in front of the latter's face. "Zach? Are you listening to me?"

It didn't seem like Zach was. So Kenneth shouted loudly, "Zach!"

"Huh?" Zach snorted and finally looked at Kenneth's face. He knitted his brows in confusion and looked around. "What am I doing here? How did I get here?"

Kenneth face-palmed himself and replied to that half-asleep boy, "I think you sleepwalked. You were glaring at us as if you were going to eat us!"

"Us?" Zach raised his brows and tilted his head to peek inside Kenneth's room.

His eyes were wide open when he saw a beautiful lady in a light purple dress sitting gracefully on the sofa.

She had braided half of her hair at the front and was wearing it like a hairband. And the rest of her hair was freely floating down to her waist like a waterfall. She had light makeup on, which made her look like a fresh lily.

She slowly fluttered her eyes and looked at Zach. His eyes met with hers and Zach suddenly felt his heart skipping a beat.

Zach instantly straightened his neck and used Kenneth's body to take cover. He took a deep breath in and he whispered to Kenneth in a dazed voice, "Please tell me she isn't married."

"Aaah!" Kenneth lightly knocked on Zach's head and scolded him. "You're a child! Don't say such things! And definitely don't drool over my cousin."

Zach grinned and asked, "So… she's your cousin?"

"Yes." Kenneth narrowed his eyes at Zach and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"And her name is Grace?"

"Uh-huh."

Zach gave a whimsical smirk and asked Kenneth, "Introduce me to her then."

"No," Kenneth outright denied.

Zach gave a puppy-eyed look to Kenneth and asked again, "Please. I need to meet her before she sees Ramon or Damien."

Kenneth wanted to laugh at that fanatic because of how stupid he was sounding and looking at the moment – silly smile, disheveled hair, messy clothes. "Why don't you groom yourself first? At least wash your face. You need to make a good first impression on her, don't you think?"

Zach snapped his fingers and nodded. "You are right! I need to look captivating… and mature."

"Thank you for protecting me from making a mistake," Zach gave a hug to Kenneth and ran towards his room.

And when he was gone, Grace asked Kenneth, "Who was that half-dead boy? He gave me chills!"
