She Belongs To The Devil

Questioning

Questioning

2Damien looked down again in guilt and fear. He was meeting Theodore after so many years. But unfortunately, he happened to meet the Devil Prince under this utterly unfavorable circumstance.      3

He had thought that he would try to make a good impression on Adeline and Theodore once he returned to Wyverndale along with Ariel and the others. He had thought that he would apologize to Theodore for disrespecting him all those years ago by directly denying Theodore's orders.

But now that he finally met Theodore again, he needed to apologize for something completely different. He was feeling so ashamed of himself for always causing trouble that he wanted to disappear from the face of the Earth. But he didn't want to repeat his mistake again.

He took a deep breath in and answered Theodore in a guilt-ridden voice, "I was trying my best to not lay a finger on Kenneth. But he got me. He pierced my chest and I didn't mean to do it but my body released toxic smoke. And Kenneth and Niylah got poisoned."

Theodore closed his eyes and raised his brows. And he asked in disbelief, "You poisoned Niylah as well? Why? What did she do to you?"

Damien bowed his head even lower and answered in a desperate voice, "It was not my intention to hurt anyone. My body spontaneously went on defensive mode and I think it released smoke that was poisonous for the werewolves."

Theodore sighed and flicked his finger on Damien's head. "You're already this old and you haven't learned to control your body and your powers yet? What the hell were you busy with for all these years?"

Damien didn't speak a word. He simply kept on bowing to Theodore.

One thing that Theodore hated the most was the silence from the other party when he asked something. So he rolled his eyes and then pinched Damien's hair. He pulled Damien's hair, and he made Damien stand straight and look at him.

He frowned at Damien in anger and asked, "Did the cat get your tongue or what?"

Damien looked at Theodore's amber eyes in fear and then answered in a shaky voice, "Er… I sincerely apologize for being careless, Your Royal Highness. I will train harder and learn to control my powers."

Theodore narrowed his eyes and left Damien's hair. He blew a few strands of Damien's hair that were stuck on his fingers. And then he asked Damien in a little softer voice, "And how did you faint? Did Kenneth's poison get to you?"

Damien furrowed his brows in confusion and stole a quick glance at Kenneth. He didn't know what Theodore meant when he asked if Kenneth's poison got to him. He wasn't aware that Kenneth could secrete poison from his fangs and claws.

So he answered, "I have no idea. All I know is that I suddenly felt very weak. I managed to teleport to a common room and I don't remember anything after that."

"Step out of there," Theodore asked Damien in a chilling voice.

Damien quickly jumped out of the fountain and stood in front of Theodore. Damien was bracing himself to get slapped, kicked, punched, or get some worse punishment from Theodore.

But he was surprised when instead of yelling or punishing him, Theodore dried him.

Damien glanced at Theodore and found the Devil Prince still glaring at him. He nervously looked down again.

And Theodore shook his head in disappointment and asked, "You are seeing me after this many years. And you didn't even bother to say a 'hello' or ask me how I was doing."

Damien looked back at Theodore with a surprised look on his face. It didn't look like Theodore was mocking him. So he awkwardly said, "Hello, Your Royal Highness. How are you doing?"

Theodore scoffed and rolled his eyes at Damien. And he monotonously said, "Those words don't hold any meaning now. You only said it because I reminded you, you ungrateful brat!"

Damien kept on gazing at Theodore and softly mumbled, "I thought that I would make you even madder if I tried to indulge you in small talks. I didn't want to make you angrier than you already are."

Theodore fisted on his hips and narrowed his eyes at Damien yet again. And he mocked Damien by mimicking him, "I didn't want to make you angrier… Ha!"

He sneered and then said, "That was very considerate of you, wasn't it? Yes, you are right! I would get angry if you tried to share pleasantries with me."

Damien kept on looking at Theodore. He was trying to figure out if Theodore was being sarcastic or if he was being serious.

"Ah! Why are you so dense?" Theodore sighed and then pulled Damien by his shoulder. And he gave a tight hug to the little demon who was now almost as tall as him.

Damien's heart stopped for a second there because he thought that Theodore was going to do something dangerous to him. And it took a second for his mind to accept that he was getting hugged by Theodore, the Devil Prince who he had continuously disrespected and disobeyed.

Theodore pulled away from the hug and looked at Damien's face. He gave a subtle smile and said, "You look like a grown-up now." And he asked in a little serious voice, "How could you disappear for so many years, Damien?"

The guilt returned to Damien's face again. And he apologized again, "I'm sorry for everything that I did and every difficulty that I put you through."

"It's not me who you need to apologize to," Theodore replied, referring to his daughter.

Damien glanced at Ariel. She had now finally calmed down. She was leaning her head on her mother's shoulder. And Adeline was comforting her.

And he softly said, "I apologize to her every day. I hope she will eventually forgive me."

Theodore read between the lines and understood that Damien had tagged along with Ariel and the others. And he wondered what Damien had in mind.

Theodore looked into Damien's winter grey eyes and asked in a piercing voice, "Do you plan on getting forgiven by Ariel and disappearing again, or… do you plan on keeping in touch?"

Damien panicked a little because of that sudden threatening tone from Theodore. But he mustered up the courage and truthfully answered, "I plan on staying by her side till eternity."
