She could feel the silence inside the engagement hall. She also seemed to realize that though Grandfather He had announced already, He Jian had not stepped on the stage yet.
Slowly, she raised her head and looked at the people who were not looking at her but in some other direction. When she followed their gazes, her heart stopped beating for a moment.
She could see He Jian standing in front of Mo Roulan.
He had not even moved from there.
With her clenched fists, Shen Yiling tried her best to control the anxiety and panic she was feeling and turned to look at Grandfather He with red eyes that were filled with tears of anger.
However, she showed as if she was scared as she whispered
"Grandpa, why is Brother Jian not moving?"
Grandfather He felt guilty when he looked at Shen Yiling's tear-filled eyes. He smiled sheepishly as he patted her hands asking her not to worry.
His eyes found his son's eyes and he immediately signed him to go to He Jian. However, He Zhuang only looked at his father with disappointment-filled eyes.
He shook his head and looked away from his coldly pretending that he never noticed him looking towards him.
Grandfather He was speechless and angry.
He knew that his son might be angry at him. After all, he also didn't know about this engagement thing but he should not leave him alone at such a time when he needed him.
Stinky B****d …he whispered under his breath and finally tried to call his grandson for one last time.
"Dear grandson…He Jian…"
His gentle voice sounded through the microphone that was attached to the beautiful coat he was wearing on the occasion of his grandson's engagement.

A few people in the engagement hall raised their eyebrows in surprise when they heard Grandfather He's words. So He Jian didn't know about this engagement.
Cheng Yang who had been dragged away by his friend walked to Mo Roulan's side.
He looked at He Jian with no emotions on his face while the latter did the same.
However, his cold blue eyes were colder than Cheng Yang's as he looked at the hand that was held by Cheng Yang.
He finally moved …towards the stage.
"What the hell is going on?"
Liu Ji Fan who was standing in a corner whispered while Fang Zhihan shook his head with a confused frown on his forehead.
"I don't know, Old Li. I had been informed that the old Master He was going to celebrate his birthday."
"I had been informed the same."
Liu Ji Fan whispered sharply.
Shen Weisheng who was standing with them looked at He Jian silently who was moving towards the stage and said
"I don't think that even He Jian knew about this."
Shi Fengju who knew everything sighed silently not telling his friends that he had known all this all along.
On the other hand, the rest three looked at each other's faces with sudden realization. They realized why they didn't know anything.
He Jian's grandfather must have been afraid that they would go and tell He Jian everything if they knew about the engagement so he never let them know about all this.
"The old man has gone insane."
Liu Ji Fan whispered and Fang Zhihan couldn't help but nod his head as he whispered
"I think the same. What do you say? Should I call the hospital already and tell my staff to get ready? I have a feeling that Old He would soon give a heart attack to the old Master He."

"He deserved this. Elders don't understand sometimes that they don't have the right to poke nose in the matters of the younger generation at every step of their lives."
Fang Zhihan and Shen Weisheng didn't say anything in response to these words because they knew that Liu Ji Fan was saying this while remembering his mother who had planned the accident to kill his boyfriend.
Liu Ji Fan was suddenly feeling very angry.
"I will go and call the hospital once."
Finishing his words, he left from there. He wanted to talk to Tian Yuan. He would not have left the hospital but he had made an excuse when Tian Yuan said that he wanted to talk to him because he knew very well what he wanted to talk about.

Inside the engagement hall, Grandfather He was all smiles when he saw his grandson climbing the stairs of the stage.
He felt proud of his plan now. He knew that only by doing this, he would be able to convince him and he surely have been right all along.
Shen Yiling's smile also returned with a new bloom and she looked at He Jian shyly when he was approaching her or that was what she thought.

She whispered shyly and continued with her head lowered
"Since you were not there, I chose the ring for both of us."
