The Alpha's Bride

Back where they belong (1)

Back where they belong (1)

3After talking to Stephanie, Damon and Talia made their way around the packhouse so that Talia can sneak inside with the help of the rope that Maya left behind.     0

Maya vacated that room a while ago, and Caden went to meet up with her, so it was up to Talia to sell the whole I-slept-in story to her guards.

Damon watched as Talia used the rope to pull herself up to the window on the second floor. Damon was impressed, she did it with ease and she barely used her legs.

Talia hopped into Maya's and Caden's bedroom and was about the pull the rope back inside when she realized that the thing was wiggling. She looked down to see Damon climbing.

"Why are you here?", Talia asked when Damon's head peeked through the window.

"I'm not leaving you out of my sight, kitten.", Damon said matter-of-factly while making his way into the room.

Talia looked at him helplessly, but she couldn't push him out.

When Damon saw that she started pulling the rope in, he extended his arm with, "Let me do it."

Talia took a step back and watched Damon as he neatly folded the rope. The black pants fit snuggly around his firm ass, the white shirt had its top button undone, the necktie was loose, and his slightly messy hair added to the visual of him being absolutely dreamy. Was this handsome specimen really hers?

Damon noticed that Talia was checking him out and he grinned. "Do you like what you see?"

"Absolutely." Talia didn't deny it. She could look at him the whole day and not get bored. But she had another problem. "Do you need to be here? Can't you wait for me in the study or anywhere other than here?" And if he could leave through the window, that would be perfect.

Damon was not willing to part with Talia. "Why?"

"I was supposed to have a sleepover with Maya. How will I explain your presence?"

"You can tell them the truth, that they are useless guards not worth a squat."

Talia made a face. Didn't they talk about this? "Can you be serious?"

"I am serious. Besides, didn't you say that your cover is how you overslept? With me being here, it will be obvious why you overslept. I came early, Maya left to give us privacy.", Damon ended with a grin.

Talia puffed her cheeks in frustration. "But…"

"No buts.", Damon cut her off. "I'm not leaving you out of my sight. They might think I sneaked in when they were not looking, that I came through the window, through a secret passage, or I materialized out of thin air. I don't care what they are thinking, but I'm not leaving."

Damon didn't want to talk about those good-for-nothing guards. He thought they will keep Talia safe, but now he realized they were just for decoration. And there was absolutely no freaking way Damon would make the extra effort so that they feel better.

After folding the rope, Damon was not sure what to do with it. Should he keep it down? Or did it have a special container? It was firm, with an almost glossy finish, looking expensive. "Why does Maya have a rope in her room?"

"Oh…", a silly sound escaped Talia's lips. "Maya said that it finally became useful outside of their bed."

Damon threw the rope like he got burned and shook his hands vigorously. "What the hell?" He cursed something Talia didn't understand.

"Ah!", Talia cried when Damon yanked her toward the bathroom without any warning. "Where are you taking me?"

"To wash hands.", he said dryly while trying not to imagine how that rope was used. Did it go between Caden's butt cheeks? Or around his balls? "Actually, maybe we should shower."

"We can't shower here. This is Maya's and Caden's room."

Damon paused. "You are right."

"What…?", Talia's question was cut short when Damon picked her up and carried her out over his shoulder like she was a sack of potatoes.

Two figures jerked in attention when the door opened abruptly.

"You guys are dismissed.", Damon said curtly. "I expect you to report back after lunch. All of you."

Sandy and Lulu stared at the scene of Damon carrying Talia over his shoulder and her waving at them with a sheepish smile like that was a totally normal thing.

The two of them high-fived, totally unaware that Damon had no intention of praising them for a good job in guarding Talia. Actually, he was contemplating how to punish them.

...

Damon walked into the master bedroom, and then straight to the bathroom.

"Damon?", Talia called. "What's got into you? Are you alright?"

More than his behavior, she could sense his stiffness, and she knew that he blocked off his emotions so that she won't feel them. Not sharing Damon's emotions was scarier than anything for Talia, and if not for him clinging onto her, she would think that black runes took over and he forgot about her again.

Damon kept her down and started the shower.

"I want to wash away this morning and last night.", Damon said. "I want to wash away the last few days like they didn't happen. Can we go back to the cabin and re-do things? But this time without me forgetting about you."

Talia saw him tugging on his necktie impatiently and she reached to hold his hand.

"Let me in, Damon.", Talia demanded. "You want me to share my everything with you, and I expect the same. Equals. Remember?"

Damon hesitated for a moment, and Talia's heart cracked under the weight of his emotions that poured into her.

They were both under pressure, and she knew that the uncertainty pressed on him like barbwire. They were facing one issue after another, everything was unexpected, and they were lucky that things didn't implode so far. On top of all external troubles, Damon had black runes that were dormant but could come alive at any moment and turn him into someone else.

"I don't like that you think you should shoulder it all by yourself.", Talia said while stepping toward Damon, and then her fingers moved to undo the buttons of his shirt. "Many things happened in the last few days, but not all of them were bad. We acquired a lot of information that needs to be analyzed, we also got a few more allies, and…", Talia paused while pushing the shirt off his shoulders. "Tonight, the ritual will be completed, you will get rid of black runes, Sapa will be back, and we will take it from there."

Damon's pants pooled at his ankles and Talia looked up to meet his icy-blue eyes that were trained on her.

"I know that there are many uncertain things in the future", she said and put her palm on his chest, right where his heart is. "Do you feel this?"

Damon put his hand over Talia's. "Yes." There was the touch, the warmth, and the sparks of their bond.

Talia smiled. "We are meant to be together, Damon. Aren't you the strongest Alpha? And the word around is that I'm not easy to bully either. We have our friends, and Liseli and Sapa. If anyone dares to come after us or our friends, we will make him eat dust."
