Falling in Love : I love you, Today and Forever

Return home - Part 1

Return home - Part 1

1"How many more days do I have to stay here? I want to go home." Jonathan complained weakly and looked at Ian aggrievedly.      2

But the man in question just stared back at him sternly, his expressions clearly commanding the old man to stay silent and rest well instead of arguing and fighting.

"And how many times do I have to tell you, Grandpa, that I am the doctor here and I will decide when you will return home? Now is not the time."

"But I want to go home." Jonathan still did not give up and stared at his grandson, who was watching the two men bicker in amusement.

"Noah, aren't you going to say anything? Your friend is being unreasonable."

"Nope. I don't think so." His words poured cold water on the old man and he deflated like a popped balloon. "Ian holds the reigns here and if he feels that you must stay here for a few more days, he must have his reasons."

"You two are mean. I am going to complain to..."

"Who will you complain to Grandpa? Nobody will come to your rescue." Noah chuckled wickedly and the old man glared at his grandson as though he was his enemy.

"I will complain to my granddaughter-in-law. She will handle you both. Just wait and watch." He threatened but there was no apparent change in the two men's expressions. Instead of being afraid, they burst out laughing, much to his dismay.

"Grandpa, Aria will support us instead. Are you sure you want to complain to her? She will never allow you to leave the hospital until you have recovered completely. In fact," Noah glanced at Ian who was smiling widely in mirth. "She is stricter than Ian when it comes to matters like these."

Jonathan gulped and Noah grinned at the old man's plight.

"You are bullying this old man. I am going to go back to sleep." Jonathan lay down and Noah stood up to help him immediately.

"Good. You need to sleep well and recuperate well if you want to return home as soon as possible."

Although Jonathan struggled, it did not take much time for the old man to slip into a deep sleep and Noah shook his head at his grandfather's child-like antics. He sighed lightly as he pulled the blanket to the man's neck.

"How is he, Ian?" He queried once he was sure that the old man would not be waking up anytime soon and their voice would not disturb him.

"He is recovering well. There are obvious signs of improvement."

"When can we take him home then?" Noah looked at his friends hopefully.

Four days had passed since the old man had gained consciousness and since the time he was able to speak coherently, all he wanted was to leave the place and return home. However, Ian being in charge of his patient, did not allow him to have his say and put him in his place every time.

"Three days later. But I will confirm with you after I run a few tests on him. He is still weak and if he returns home right now, he will start running around which I do not recommend at all."

"I know. This old man does not know how to rest at all. How annoying!" Noah grumbled, although his eyes held a gentle smile as he stared at his grandfather.

"Does Grandpa know about Theo's return? Have you told him yet?"

"Not yet. Let him recover more. I will tell him soon."

"Yes. Let's wait for some time. We should not agitate him and worsen his condition instead. He needs to be peaceful and calm."

"And I don't think that's something my Grandpa is looking for right now. You know how much he loves drama and action."

Ian laughed helplessly and pressed his forehead. "Aren't you going to return to work? You haven't visited the company since Grandpa fell sick."

"What am I paying my employees for if I do all the work?" Noah scoffed and Ian rolled his eyes at his dictatory behavior.

"But that does not mean you should not work at all. Right?"

"I am on vacation right now. I will return to work soon. Do you have any problems?"

"Nope. I don't." Ian raised his hands in surrender when he noticed the man glaring at him. "You are the Boss. You have the say."

"Glad that you know."

"But I really admire and pity Ronnie."

"And why would you do that?"

"That poor guy is working harder than ever since the time you went on a vacation."

Noah went silent, agreeing with Ian on this. Since the time he had stopped going to work, Ronnie had taken over his work and was handling everything. Even though he would seek Noah's opinions on important matters, all the unimportant matters did not even reach Noah.

"He is doing a good job. I will allow him to go on a vacation once I return."

"How very considerate of you! I wish I had a Boss like you." Ian tried to flatter Noah even though he knew it would have no effect on his friend.

"I know." Noah nodded curtly and Ian shook his head helplessly.

"By the way, is there any information about Jared or his minions?" Ian's expression turned serious all of a sudden and Noah looked up immediately. "He must have found out about Theo's return by now, that is if there is someone from his gang keeping an eye on us."

"I presume so. But I am uncertain." Noah leaned back in his chair and frowned lightly as he ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Whoever his spy is must have already informed Jared about Theo's return by now."

"But?" Ian probed when he sensed that there was more to it.

"But why has Jared not taken any action yet? If he knows about Theo's return, why is he staying low? Isn't this what he wanted? To bring Theo out of his hiding."

Noah's concerns got Ian thinking and he pursed his lips thoughtfully. 'Since Theo is already here, why hasn't Jared taken any action yet?'
