Andrea quickly made the babies' food and together with Lu Fang, they fed the twins. They were very good eaters, especially Chevre. It wouldn't be long before they would start eating pure solid meals and the couple was excited to share that moment with them.
They played around with Brie and Chevre for a while before taking a shower. The twins were nearing their seventh month and could already be placed in walkers.
It amused the couple how the babies enjoyed walking around and playing with the toys attached to their go-cart.
They recognized how tiring it was to raise the twins at this age, but watching them reach their milestones, was beyond gratifying. Regardless of how challenging it had been, especially for Andrea, they were both thankful for having witnessed the babies' crawls, their blabs, and their sweet pure smiles.
Lu Fang instructed Gao Rou to look after the office as he needed to take his wife for cake tasting and as soon as their rascals were ready to get their morning sleep, the couple got prepared to leave.
Hanxi drove them to the best cake shop in town where Bolin had previously scheduled an appointment.
The husband and wife were seated in the middle of the Audi while their two bodyguards were at the back. Bolin sat in the passenger seat in the front, next to Hanxi.
"Babe, when exactly is our wedding?" Andrea asked. The man never told her when their ceremony would be.
He cleared his throat before answering, "In three months."
Disappointed, she raised her brow at him and exclaimed, "In three months?!"
"Why Mrs. Lu? You seem awfully excited to tie me down," teased her husband.
"Haha! Mr. Lu? You seem to be forgetting, we are already married in paper. You are stuck with me no matter what!"
Truth be told, Andrea was looking forward to their wedding. Arti had shared with her a few gossips that went on at the office from some managers and secretaries. It was the talk around Lu-Wei Enterprises of how their President may have a divorce soon.
She knew how her absence in the office may have given them the wrong impression. She recognized she needed to make her presence known to those who were still hopeful of getting her husband's affection.
Her conversation with Li Wen about completing their ceremony had long come back to her. She recalled how concern her sister was about other people's impression of her, not having had a formal public marriage.
The men seated in the front laughed at their conversation. Bolin could not help but try to ease the concern of his lady boss and hinted, "Don't worry Mrs. Lu. I'll try to speed up the arrangement - "
His announcement was interrupted by the man's cough, indirectly telling him to keep quiet.
"Sorry, Master," Bolin apologized and quickly went back to check on their schedule for the day.
The couple was presented with various designs of fondant wedding cakes and they both were incredibly impressed by how it looked. When they asked the shops's sales executive about the flavors, Andrea was dismayed to learn; they were limited to a few choices, and they were mostly pounded cakes.
"Carrot cake, fruit cake, chocolate, and vanilla pound cake. These are the options," said the girl who assisted them.
"Why only these flavors?" Andrea asked.
"A fondant covered cakes can only have a dense cake underneath it. Fondant is very heavy, but is very durable, perfect for weddings," the girl explained.
Andrea requested to taste each of the recommended cakes including one which was frosted with fondant. She loved the carrot cake, but she did not like the fondant cover.
"What's wrong, babe?" Lu Fang asked after seeing the frown on her face.
"I don't like it." She turned to the girl and reasoned, "I mean, the carrot cake was delicious but the fondant was overly sweet. I don't think anyone would eat it."
The cake shop had prepared the most luxurious cake designs for the couple. Being the richest family now in Beijing, they were confident the Lus would go for the most expensive type of cake. Apparently they were mistaken.
The sales executive had to quickly prepare additional cake flavors and wedding cake designs for the couple to choose from.
They were severed with red velvet cake, banana walnut, and various types of aerated cakes and regularly made ones. They served diverse kinds with different frostings, best fitted for each flavor.
"Hmmmm," said the man. "I like this cake." He was referring to a vanilla cake frosted with chocolate ganache and topped with mangoes.
"Well, I like the red velvet cake with this cream cheese frosting. I also like the carrot cake with the cream cheese frosting," Andrea said as she fed herself with the last slice of the red-colored cake.
Hanxi and Bolin also had a taste of the cakes. They both agreed that what the couple chose were delicious flavors.
The girl explained to them that soft icing cakes were not the usual choice for wedding cakes as they looked less elegant, but Andrea did not care. She was not into elegance. What mattered most to her was that the cakes were fully edible.
Thus, they were presented with various fully frosted wedding cakes but towards the end of the selection, what caught her attention were those that were barely covered. She asked, "What kind of cake design is this?"
The sales executive reviewed the picture and responded, "It's a naked cake."
As if they read each other's minds, the couple sighed together.
"Ooohh," Andrea said.
"Hmmmmm," Lu Fang reacted.
Somehow, they both felt it was the best cake choice for them. They were even more ecstatic to learn that they could mix the cake flavors, especially those that matched with cream cheese frosting and keep the one layer of which to the one that Lu Fang preferred.
They opted for the cake to be garnished with fruits and edible flowers, making it simple yet exquisite looking. Apart from the main cake, they also decided to prepare small serving sizes of the said naked cake which will be convenient for their guests to indulge in.
On their way to the office, Lu Fang asked his wife about her choice, "Babe, why did you like such cake design?"
She giggled and said, "Because they were delicious!" She then leaned towards him and whispered to his ear, "and the naked cake is just like you. Delicious when naked."
"Hmmmm. I figured."
